Gael's Early Career
Raised by actors and born November 30,1978 to a family of actors who had owned a theater company. Gael began his acting career by the age of fourteen in a soap opera titled El abuelo y yo (1992). He also appeared in film school exercises and short films, one of which was nominated for an Academy 'Award' for Best Short Film. The film was originally directed by Antonio Urrutia and was called De tripas, corazon (2001). Gael was also in El ojo en la nuca (2001), another short film directed by Rodrigo Pla.

After that he took part in his first few major films, Amores Perros (2000) followed by Y Tu Mama Tambien (2001), which was directed by Alfonso Cuaron and photographed by Emmanuel Lubezki. Gael's partner, the Argentine actress Dolores Fonzi, was with him from 2008 to 2014. They met on the set of Vidas Privadas (2001). They never married but they had two kids together, their son Lazaro and daughter Libertad. The relationship ended in the September of 2014.
